HISTORY : The Olympic adventure

Twelve years after its foundation, the leaders of SCHOKBETON offer their services for the prefabrication of the principal structures of the Olympic Stage of Montreal.

On April 6, 1972, Jean Drapeau, mayor of Montreal, declared publicly that his city would welcome the Olympic Games of 1976. SCHOKBETON Inc. was granted the contract to build the essential structures of this grand realization. The Olympic stadium consisted of three main elements: the annular shape of the stadium, the central mast and the spherical vault at the base of the tower.

During the spring and summer of 1975, Saint Eustache's plant counted 1000 employees working around the clock, seven days per week, in order to respect our commitment for the games to be held as planned.

The mast of the stadium, 168 metres in height is an audacious example of prefabricated concrete's capacities.
